Concept statement
When I thought about the theme 'walk' I came up with several different plays on words, some were relating to pedestrians. I then decided I would like to use a zebra crossing. I had two ideas for this...either a zebra crossing a road, or something crossing a zebra and after a few variations, this is what I came up with. I chose to use a family of ducks because it is a very typical example of something that may cross a road.
Where in the world would you go to and why?
I would love to travel to most parts of the world at some stage. I have chosen Spain for my exchange destination because of its vibrant culture, people and language. I also think Spanish is a very useful language to be learning because it is spoken in so many different countries around the world.
Favourite stuff?
I like spending time with interesting people and meeting new ones. I enjoy various creative activities, whether it be drama, sewing, cooking or designing. I like listening to music, talking, drinking good coffee, the beach and the sun.
Three people you'd take to a desert island?
Well, I don't think I could handle missing out on everything that’s happening for too long, so my focus would be on getting safely back to the real world with a bit of entertainment along the way. I’d take a musical boat builder, an artistic navigator and a talkative bush tucker expert.
What will you be doing in 10 years?
Who knows? I'd rather not have everything planned out but hopefully I’ll be doing something creative and interesting, and enjoying myself.
Why should you win this competition?
My shirt design is attractive, quirky and wearable. It’s a subtle play on words which expresses the idea effectively. Winning this competition would support my aim of spending next year on exchange in Spain.
