Concept statement
When I think of experiences, my most predominant memories are about love. The feeling you get when your around someone who means so much to you is unexplainable, as with the feeling you get when you cant have the person that means so much to you, lust. Love not only creates euphoria but seems to create alot of depression, as I have experienced myself and seen in other friends too. After a friend explaining that she had mamed herself with a scaple because of lust, it striked me that depression is a huge topic within our society, and I feel that our society needs to be more aware and not hide these issues and not to glorify them to make them look not so bad...
Where in the world would you go to and why?
France or Canada. France because the language is beautiful (i cant speak any of it though), interesting culture and the street art (graphiti) is amazing. Canada, because every single canadian I have met has made me feel as if im part of their family, not a common thing I believe.. =)
Favourite stuff?
favourite item would have to be my skates, they provide all my joy =) pastime would be any memorable experience with my close friends favourite person would have to be all my mates, i couldn't pick one food is good... fav movie would have to be equilibrium or american beauty i dont really read books....we dont get along.. Bands at the moment would have to be Saosin, Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, The Bled, Funeral For A Friend, From First To Last....more commericially bands would be Thursday, From Autumn To Ashes, The Used, Finch with a side of Paganini, Bach and most importantly, Sigur Ros ()
Three people you'd take to a desert island?
Do I have to go to a desert island...that'd be boring....but otherwise i'd take 3 of the guys from Sigur Ros and just chill with them, write music...woah, that sounds exciting...pfft..
What will you be doing in 10 years?
I'll probably be dead. I've pushed my luck with life so far =) but otherwise, I wouldn't mind being a designer, maybe being a director....and I'd love to own a pub/club like the arthouse or so
Why should you win this competition?
Because im cool. No, because im tired of competitions having winners that are so uplifting, that glorify life so that we all feel better with ourselves. Im not saying life is terrible and the world is a hideous place, but the reason I'd like my t-shirt to win is because its different, its not uplifting, if anything its morbid. But its the truth for many young people, and for people to see other people with the same problem, it might break barriers within our society and people might not feel so isolated. The power of one t-shirt...hahaha..awesome. Also, of course winning an exchange would allow me to go over seas to canada or france to look at the art. Otherwise, the laptop would assist me heavily as I plan on studying Communication Design or Multimedia at RMIT or Swinburne....lets not think thats the reason why I entered this comp thou, look above
