Concept statement
I have an obsession with the abstractly funny. Things that naturally don't fit together and seem funny when juxtaposed. This shirt is just a visual pun on the word Fisherman. It shows how if we explore our imagination and explore how we percieve silly things, like the word fisherman, we can sometimes surprise ourselves and be able to laugh at our own falsehoods. Exploring funny and exploring perception.
Where in the world would you go to and why?
Wales because my Mum comes from Wales and there is a lot of cultural and historical things I would like to see and do there. It's my heritage and I would like to know about it. But I would visit England to see Dad's side of things as well.
Favourite stuff?
Computer / Latin Dancing / Mum / ALL FOOD GOOD / The Matrix (1 only) / Brave New World by Aldous Huxley / Noise Magazine / Jurassic 5
Three people you'd take to a desert island?
Micheal Moore and George W. Bush Jr for entertainment. And a good friend to talk to........................... and cook for me.
What will you be doing in 10 years?
Something that I enjoy and makes me happy. Something I feel is worthwhile and isn't boring. And hopefully I can still be making art and if I'm lucky doing some small exhibitions, just as side stuff.
Why should you win this competition?
I can't say why I should win, I think I've said enough about other peoples designs as well. I'll say if i do win it is because the judges think my idea is original and a bit quirky. I think I took a young approach while still designing a good shirt. It's fun and best of luck to the whole top ten. I also hope that I didn't sound like a pretentous idiot who is completely up myself in my interview. I think a winner wouldn't do that........
