Concept statement
In my design I aimed to produce a t-shirt which was both original and stylish. This proved at first to be quite a challenge, and after some 13 attempts; finally a design I could be proud of. Where the wings of an angel meet the heights of 'our' (humanities) desires to fly - we find a very exotic and interesting fusion of fundamental Vs contemporary symbolism. I tried to incorporate the imagery of both natural and man-made aviation to achieve a unique view of the theme flight in an intricate, yet very easily correlating fashion.
Where in the world would you go to and why?
Given the chance of a lifetime to fulfil one of my all time dreams of living abroad, I would definitely go to Japan. Since a very young age I have had a keen interest in all aspects Japanese culture, especially manga and anime which we don't seem to see very much of in Australia. I have been learning the Japanese language since the start of this year and so far I'm loving it! - Our family has had many great experiences hosting Japanese exchange students and teachers, each more interesting then the last. To immerse myself in another culture would be an invaluable learning experience, and to me personally, Japan would have the greatest deal to share.
Favourite stuff?
Music: The postal service, Eric clapton, Frou Frou, Telepopmusik, DJ encore, Ayumi hamasaki, Metallica and heaps more. || Sport: I love playing rugby (union), soccer and OzTag, & I go to watch the raiders play whenever I can. || Media: Tons of Manga! (Particularly Naruto), too much anime to name, Martial arts movies like; Ong Bak, Hero, Princess Blade & Battle Royal, - my favourite magazine is Atomic. || Hobbies/Interests: My two greatest passions are business and graphics; someday I hope to merge these two together in a future career. Also I love playing guitar, learning Japanese and socializing with friends. ||
Three people you'd take to a desert island?
1. I would take Mike Griffin - head of NASA, who could easily build a rocket or aeroplane to bring all 3 people back to civilization. 2. Linda Bergkvist - the most amazing fantasy artist on the planet and author of D'artiste: Digital Painting digital artists; master class book. & 3. Stephen Ward - The new CEO of lenovo (parent company of IBM) and one of the most knowledgeable IT/Business men in the world. || note: I would also definitely take 3 of my closest friends (Tony, Steve, nick, tuan, Nina ect) but I would hate to choose, and I think they would be happier to not be on a desert island at all! :p.
What will you be doing in 10 years?
In ten years time, after ten years of hard work, I will be a successful entrepreneur in an industry I most take interest in. Right now I spend a lot of my time looking into the elaborate dynamics of business, and often find myself asphyxiated to CNBC for hours on end ^^. I would love to work around the globe and be able to contribute to various charities and aid organizations as to give something back to the world. In ten years time I hope to make my friends and family proud of my achievements and thank them for all they have given to me. The same way a blade of grass thanks the sun.
Why should you win this competition?
If I should have the honour of wining this competition in an environment with designs of such high standards, I would hope it be because of my level of aptitude for design. I put in a lot of time and effort and tried my best, and that's all anyone can ask of me. I believe I have been an active and helpful participant in this competition with plenty of reviews and comments on various works. IF I win I will be eternally grateful to Asics and Student Exchange Australia and make my best attempt during an exchange program to help boost the reputation of all Australians.
